Mission Statement:
The mission of Carter Christian Academy is to provide a secure, Christ-Centered environment in which students will have the opportunity to acquire a personal knowledge of God, develop Christian character, and achieve academic excellence.
Course of Study:
CCA is a private Christian school offering classes to all students in the Bible, fine arts, language arts, math, science, and social studies. CCA is philosophically based on the foundations of Christian education. CCA instructs students from preschool (age 4) through grade 8.
Basic Educational Goals:
- To give God the Glory in all things (I Corinthians 10:31)
- To develop an understanding that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior (Ephesians 1: 17-18)
- To teach the fundamentals of arts, Bible, language arts, math, science, and social studies (Colossians 1:16)
- To equip students with the ability to communicate clearly, logically, and effectively through reading, writing, speaking, and listening (Luke 4:16)
- To encourage creativity and curiosity (Proverbs 22:6)
- To help students realize their capabilities and how to make the most of them toward growth and service (Luke 2:52)
- To provide a safe and secure school environment that will be conducive to learning and moral, joyful living (Proverbs 4:1-13)
History:
CCA opened its doors in a joint effort supported by area evangelical churches in the fall of 1997 with 29 students and 3 teachers. CCA was housed entirely by the First Baptist Church for the first two years. By the fall of 1999, CCA needed more classroom space and the Grayson Freewill Baptist Church provided additional facilities.
A building site was secured by the donation of 10 acres by the Campbell Family of Grayson in January, 2004.
CCA has launched its LOAVES AND FISHES 2008 DEVELOPMENT CAMPAIGN. Our goal is that 2000 businesses, churches, and individuals give $100 this year to move us toward the goal of our own building.
Standardized Test:
CCA administers the Stanford 10 with Bible subtest for grades K5-8 and Otis-Lennon School Ability Test for grades 3, 5 and 7.
Faculty and Staff:
CCA operates daily under the supervision of an administrator, teachers, teacher aid/mastery support staff, our campus minister as well as athletic coaches.
Board of Directors:
Mr. Jim Buhr (President), Mr. Joe Miles (Vice President), Mrs. Missy Sparks (Secretary), Mrs. Pam Haney (Treasurer), Pastor David Boggs, Mr. JC Bond, and Mr. Roger Whitehead
Board Committees:
The board has six working committees that oversee the operations of the school. These are comprised of board members, teachers, and volunteers and are this year focused on three tasks (1) daily operations, (2) curriculum development, (3) developing and assisting Phase I of a building program.
- Education Committee
- Finance Committee
- Personnel Committee
- Strategic Planning & Capital Development Committee
- Facility Committee
Booster Club:
This is a parent-sponsored organization whose goal is to support the school financially as well as socially and to encourage academic excellence. Every parent is urged to join the club during the membership drive each fall. Every effort is made to utilize the individual talents and interests of each member. Meetings are held every month during the school year. An elected board of four (4) members serves the club: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Current Support:
CCA is tuition and gift driven. CCA receives support in the following ways:
· Tuition (CCA Budget)
· Booster Club (Described above)
· Area Churches (Facilities, student scholarships, general fund & building fund, etc.)
· Donors (Projects, general fund, tuition support, classroom supplies, gifts in kind)
· Volunteers (Driving, projects, workers, aides, etc.)
· Area Businesses (Projects, gifts in kind, general fund, discounts)
CCA seeks to keep our tuition affordable for our families. Currently only 75% of our budget is covered by tuition payments. CCA is dependent upon support from area churches and individuals for 25% of our monthly budget needs. We are actively seeking to double our church support by May 15, 2008.
